David Cicilline won the primary in RI’s Second CD tonight

The openly gay Mayor of Providence will be the Democrat nominee for Congress in Rhode Island’s Second CD:

Providence Mayor David Cicilline has won the Democratic primary to succeed Rep. Patrick Kennedy in Congress.

Cicilline on Tuesday defeated businessman Anthony Gemma, state Rep. David Segal and former state party chairman Bill Lynch to capture the Democratic nomination for the 1st Congressional District.

He led his primary rivals in fundraising throughout the race.
