1. It was a frigid first anniversary for First Wednesday on the Cedar Springs strip last night, but that didn’t stop Santa, Miss Oak Lawn and plenty of others from turning out. I’ve posted a few photos after the jump.
2. Gay advocacy groups are slashing staff and cutting services to cope with the recession, The Washington Blade reports. Lambda Legal and GLAAD have been among the hardest hit thus far, but the collapsing economy is also taking a toll on regional groups. What can be done to boost funding for LGBT orgs? Should some of them be eliminated or combined to reduce the overall cost of the movement? After California, it’s clear we’ll need plenty of money to fight future amendment battles.
3. Fort Worth and three other dioceses have formed a breakaway denomination after leaving the U.S. Episcopal Church over a dispute about gay issues, The Star-Telegram reports.
