Womens rodeo, yee haw!

On Tuesday, the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association kicks off the Finish Line Mega Finale at the Diamond W Arena in Alvarado, Texas about 40 miles southwest of Big D. The four-day bucking-bronco bonanza will feature timed cattle runs, barrel racing and bull riding. And these fierce females are competing for some big loot: The fastest barrel racer wins $100,000, and another $100,000 will be divvied up between the second- and fifth-place finishers. But dang, y’all. Dallas Voice was hoping to profile an out lesbian competing at the rodeo, but organizers couldn’t come up with a single candidate affiliated with the International Gay Rodeo Association.

Still, if any sapphic steer-wrestlers win, it certainly wouldn’t be their first time at the rodeo.
