The AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Dallas Summer Musicals both announced their lineups for the 2019-20 season, which includes a two joint presentations under a new partnership.

ATTPAC’s Broadway series will be a slate of six musicals within the subscription series, plus the return of two shows outside the subscription.

The season will kick off in December with the recent Tony Award-winning revival of the Ahrens-Flaherty musical Once on This Island (Dec. 17–22). That will be quickly followed by The Color Purple (Jan. 7–12, 2020), another Tony-winning revival, which was last in Dallas at Fair Park about a year ago. One of the most acclaimed musicals of recent vintage, The Band’s Visit — which last June won 10 Tonys — will make its North Texas debut (Feb. 18–23). Next up will be the stage adaptation of An American in Paris (May 20–24). That was also in Dallas, about two years ago, in Fair Park. Immediately after will be the North Texas debut of Bandstand (May 26–31), pictured, which opened on Broadway in 2017 and was originally co-produced by Dallasite Terry Loftis. It deals with servicemen coming home from World War II. The season will end with the surprise hit musical The SpongeBob Musical, adapted from the animated TV show (July 7–12).

In addition, two shows ATTPAC has previously brought to the Winspear — the quaint chamber musical Once (Nov. 22–24, 2o19) and the quirky musical revue Blue Man Group (Jan. 15–19, 2020) — will settle in for brief runs.

Both The Band’s Visit and Blue Man Group are presented pursuant to a new partnership between ATTPAC and the Dallas Summer Musicals, and play at the Winspear.

In addition, the DSM announced its lineup of seven mainstage productions, as well as two add-ons.

The season will kick off at Fair Park Music Hall with Cats (Nov. 5–17), followed by the highly-anticipated debut of Dear Evan Hansen (Nov. 26–Dec. 8), pictured, a multiple Tony-winner composed by the team of Pasek and Paul (The Greatest Showman). Following The Band’s Visit and Blue Man Group at the Winspear, the DSM’s solo season will pick up with Come From Away (March 10–22, 2020), an acclaimed true story about a small town in Canada immediately after 9/11. That will be followed by Webber and Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar (April 28–May 10), and the North Texas premiere of the Broadway hit Disney’s Frozen (June 17–July 12). The season ends with Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville(July 28–Aug. 9).  In addition, DSM will present the add-on Rent: 20th Anniversary Tour (which was previously in Dallas; it will actually be in its 25th year when it runs April 14–19).
