FRIDAY 05.03 – SUNDAY 05.26

‘Babette’s feast’ will be a real feast onstage (and off)

If you saw the Oscar-winning film Babette’s Feast — about a Frenchwoman living as a cook and maid among austere Lutherans, only to bid her farewell to them with a sumptuous feast — you know that food plays a vital role on the telling of this tale (from a story by Isak Dinesen). Amphibian Stage Productions won’t just be putting that feast onstage in their adaptation, but will offer opening weekend audiences the chance to enjoy a meal from chef Jen Williams on May 3 and 4. Even if you can’t make those, you have three more weekends to catch this heartwarming show.

DEETS: Amphibian Stage, 120 S. Main St., Fort Worth. AmphibianStage.org.

THURSDAY 05.09 – SATURDAY 05.11

City Dionysia throws an artsy bacchanal in the Arts District

Dionysus is the Greek god of … well, everything fun: wine, madness, theater, religious ecstasy, fertility. So you don’t need a scholar to tell you that City Dionysia — produced by Giant Entertainment as part of ATTPAC’s Elevator Project series — will be a party. For three days, guests will get to discover music, art, food, puppetry, ritual and more at an outdoor festival centered at Strauss Square adjacent to the Winspear Opera House.

DEETS: Arts District at Flora and Jack Evens streets. 7:30 p.m. ATTPAC.org.

FRIDAY 05.10 – SUNDAY 05.12

Broadway Our Way taps genuine Broadway vets

Uptown Players’ annual fundraiser Broadway Our Way is always one of the sassiest and funniest events of the year, as men and women switch songs. But this year has even added oomph. In addition to the lineup of super-talented Dallasites, two former locals will perform as special guests: Cedric Neal (Porgy & Bess) on May 10 and 11, and Anthony Fortino (Fun Home national tour) at all performances. Paul J. Williams hosts.

DEETS: Moody Performance Hall, 2520 Flora St. UptownPlayers.org.
