GOOD LUCK IN ARIZONA: On July 1, the Texas KnockOuts, pictured, won the B division at the Liberty Softball Classic in Long Beach, Calif. The KnockOuts are also headed to Phoenix for Series 2007.

Ten teams won the right to represent Dallas at the 2007 NAGAAA Softball World Series Oct. 1-7 in Phoenix, Ariz. Local teams playing in the Pegasus Slowpitch Softball Association’s open division include: TMC Fuel (A division), Texas KnockOuts (B division), Woody’s/AutoTrader Evolution and Mickey’s Devil Dogs (C division) and BuliBoys and Woody’s Saints (D division).

In the North Texas Women’s Sports Association’s women’s division, teams include: Texas Reserve (A division), Get Ripped and Reckless Remainz (B division), No Balls Needed (C division) and The Old Flames (D division).

If you’ve noticed that the October date for the World Series looks different, you’re right. After 29 years of playing in August, series organizers decided to move it to October this year. And that’s a big move with more than 4,000 participants and fans from 56 cities in North America, NAGAAA’s Gay Softball World Series (GSWS) is the world’s largest annual LGBT sporting event.

It’s not too late to get into the local swing of things. On Sunday, Aug. 12, Pegasus Softball holds two events: an End-of-Season Banquet at Round-Up Saloon, 1 p.m.- 3 p.m.; and the Fall League Draft Party held at Woody’s Sports & Video Bar starting at 7 p.m. (games for the fall league begin Aug. 15).

Also on Sunday, the women’s division has its last game of the season, held at Trinity View Park in Irving. Games begin at 1 p.m., last game at 6 p.m.
