Joel Ferrell, who has served on the creative team of the Dallas Theater Center since 2009, most recently as associate artistic director under Kevin Moriarty, will depart from the team at the conclusion of the current season, the DTC announced today in a statement. Ferrell will continue to be an artistic associate and to direct shows on an as-needed basis. He is already set to direct the annual production of A Christmas Carol in the fall.

Ferrell has been a driving creative force in North Texas for decades, notably with Casa Manana before coming aboard at DTC. He has also worked at companies like Second Thought Theatre and has been honored with many citations from the Dallas-Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum. His upcoming projects include a production of Sweeney Todd at Fort Worth’s Circle Theatre.
