Thursday, apparently, was a big night for bar reopenings in the DFW Homoplex. Not only did Throckmorton Mining Company (TMC) reopen in the old Sue Ellen’s, but now comes word that Mable Peabody’s Beauty Parlor and Chainsaw Repair is FINALLY back in business as of last night!!!

If you’ll recall, Denton’s only gay bar burned down in an arson in March 2007. Since then, owner Kelly Sanders has been working to renovate another building down the street, but she’s run into her share of difficulties with the city permitting process.

Jordan Britt, a UNT student who started a Facebook group called “Save Mable Peabody’s” this summer, told me the new bar had a “soft opening” last night with about 30 friends and volunteers who helped with the renovations. Britt, who’ll be a bartender at the new Mable Peabody’s and is handling PR for Sanders, says they plan to illuminate the “open” sign tonight and see who wanders in. A grand opening is planned for a few weeks out.

“It’s definitely going to be a relief because I don’t have to drive all the way down to Oak Lawn,” Britt said. “There are hundreds of gay students at UNT.”

Yeah, trust me, we know!programma-dlya-vzloma.ructr контекстной рекламы
