Every morning, while leaving Oak Cliff, I drive by The Longhorn Ballroom, which is at the foot of the Corinth Street Bridge. Supposedly, Jack Ruby once owned the country-western dance hall.

But the venue’s most historical footnote will probably be The Sex Pistols’ Jan. 10, 1978 gig — where a female fan head-butted bassist Sid Vicious. I found a music blog that has a bootleg of the Longhorn gig. And I just came across this tidbit, which was noted in the documentary, “The Filth and the Fury.”
