Former Sheriff Lupe Valdez is leading with 42 percent of the early vote total for governor with 219,000 of 515,000 votes reported. Andrew White is in second place with 151,000 votes. Jeffrey Payne has about 5 percent of the early vote. The race will go into a runoff unless one candidate receives 50 percent of the vote.
Valdez leads in governor’s race with 42 percent in early voting
In the District 32 race to oppose Rep. Pete Sessions, Colin Allred is leading and Brett Shipp is in second place in the early vote. That race is expected to go into a runoff. Lillian Salerno is a close third and Ed Meier, who spent the most on the race in TV advertising, is in fourth place.
Julie Johnson has more than 76 percent of the early vote. She’s in a two-way race to oppose Matt Rinaldi for the Texas House District 115 in northwest Dallas County. Rinaldi is the author of the House version of the bathroom bill. This race is not expected to go into a runoff.
Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson is leading in her three-way race with 65 percent of the vote. If she wins her race, she faces no opposition in the fall.
State Rep. Eric Johnson faced opposition from Sandra Crenshaw. He’s leading with more than 70 percent of the vote and faces no opposition in the fall.
