Mille Lire, the Oak Lawn Italian restaurant that made my Top Tables in 2018, knows that Rome wasn’t built in a day… but it only takes one night to eat like a Roman. And there won’t be a caesar salad in sight. (Note: The salad wasn’t named for emperor.) Chef Giuliano Matarese has concocted a Roman-style dinner for tonight, including a sparkling wine reception and four-course family-style dinner or carciofi all Romana (roasted artichokes, pictured), spicy pasta with pancetta, porchetta (crispy herb-infused pork loin) and bigne alla panna (whipped profiteroles) for dessert. The dinner, which includes wine pairings, costs only $65, and starts tonight at 7 and reservations are required.
