A trip down memory lane with Dr. Laura

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. “End of debate,” as you say.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord-Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness-Lev.15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination-Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse
and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

Dr. Laura to drop her radio show over criticism of her use of the n-word

From Media Matters:

In an interview this evening on CNN’s Larry King Live, Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced that when her radio contract expires at the end of the year, she will not seek to renew it. Schlessinger said that she was ending her show in order to “regain my First Amendment rights.” According to Schlessinger, in the wake of her racial screed last week, highlighted by Media Matters, “my First Amendment rights have been usurped by angry, hateful groups.”

On August 10, Schlessinger launched into a racially charged rant, during which Schlessinger — in herown words — “articulated the ‘n’ word all the way out — more than one time.” Schlessinger also told an African-American caller that she had a “chip on [her] shoulder,” and suggested that “If you’re that hypersensitive about color and don’t have a sense of humor, don’t marry out of your race.” The next day, Schlessinger apologized.

On August 12, Media Matters posted full audio and transcript of Schlessinger’s rant, which had apparently been expunged from her website. We also documented her history of incendiary remarks. Schlessinger became the subject of a firestorm of media coverage. She responded by slammingthe media that “rebroadcast” her rant.

‘Dr. Laura’ decides to quit radio after brain-dead N-word rant

Should I pull out the tiny violin for her? Naw, f*ck it.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced tonight she is ending her radio show, a week after she broadcast a five-minute-long rant in which she used the N-word 11 times.

The radio doctor used racial epithet eleven times in five minutes. Schlessinger said on “Larry King Live” tonight that she has decided “not to do radio anymore” so she can say the things she wants to say.

The reason is, I want to regain my First Amendment rights,” she said. “I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”

Dr. Laura Quits Show Over N-Word Fallout

Dr. Laura Schlessinger told Larry King tonight that she is leaving her show after her contract expires at the end of the year. Schlessinger says she’s lost her First Amendment rights after repeatedly saying the N-word on the air. After the show first aired last week, Media Matters immediately launched a call for advertisers to cancel their contracts.

Does Dr. Laura Schlessenger Not Understand She Doesn’t Get To Use The N-Word?

On her radio show, Dr. Laura Schlessenger told a black caller what she should think about her white husband's racist jokes. She said "nigger" six times to make her point. Ugh.

“Dr Laura” Goes Into On-Air Racial Tirade

CNN’s Rick Sanchez is running this story right now and tippy-toeing around the entire conversation; it’s extremely apparent that he is trying hard to explain in a very intelligent way that is also politically correct/ societally acceptable/ sensitive a topic he is very uncomfortable discussing- but the truth is, there is just NO WAY that this is even slightly acceptable.

Is it really so hard to call Laura Schlessinger out as a hateful racist, as well as a known and well documented bigot, CNN? REALLY?

It’s not helping Sanchez that CNN’s sound booth is messing up badly, playing the clips in higgledy-piggledy order…

In my view, Laura has gone even further off the rails than usual- I didn’t think it possible!

She starts by talking the call, listening to the caller, then goes off- HARD, starting by asking for an example because “Sometimes people are hyper-sensitive”!

She listens, then interrupts to say the caller’s example doesn’t sound like racism to her, then slams people voting for Obama, a theme she elaborates upon in some detail after the break. Schlessinger also relates an inane story about basketball and how “white men can’t jump”.

Story via HuffPo:

Dr. Laura Schlessinger has apologized after a shocking rant on her radio show this week during which she said the n-word 10 times over the course of five minutes.

In conversation Tuesday with a black female caller who was complaining about her white husband’s racist friends and their use of the word, Schlessinger said:

Black guys use it all the time. Turn on HBO and listen to a black comic, and all you hear is n****, n*****, n*****. I don’t get it.

If anybody without enough melanin says it, it’s a horrible thing. But when black people say it, it’s affectionate. It’s very confusing.

More below the fold, including the audio clips via Media Matters.
The show then went to commercial. When they came back on, Dr Laura started in again on the caller:

Schlessinger and the caller then got into an exchange about the use of the word:

CALLER: Is it OK to say that word? Is it ever OK to say that word?

DR. LAURA: It depends how it’s said. Black guys talking to each other seem to think it’s ok.

CALLER: But you’re not black, they’re not black, my husband is white.

DR. LAURA: Oh, I see, so a word is restricted to race. Got it. Can’t do much about that.

CALLER: I can’t believe someone like you is on the radio spewing out the n***** word, and I hope everybody heard it.

DR. LAURA: I didn’t spew out the n***** word!

CALLER: You said “n*****, n*****, n*****” and I hope everybody heard it.

DR. LAURA: Yes they did, and I’ll say it again: n*****, n*****, n***** is what you hear on HBO.

DR. LAURA: Why don’t you let me finish a sentence? Don’t take things out of context. Don’t NAACP me, leave them in context.

The call ended at that point as Dr Laura hung up on  her caller. Unwilling to let it go at that, Schlessinger then told her audience:

“If you’re that hypersensitive about color and don’t have a sense of humor, don’t marry outside of your race.”

Part 1:

Part 2:

Her apology, issued the next day:

These are my opening comments from my radio program today:

I talk every day about doing the right thing.  And yesterday, I did the wrong thing.

I didn’t intend to hurt people, but I did.  And that makes it the wrong thing to have done.

I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the “n” word all the way out – more than one time.  And that was wrong.  I’ll say it again – that was wrong.

I ended up, I’m sure, with many of you losing the point I was trying to make, because you were shocked by the fact that I said the word.  I, myself, realized I had made a horrible mistake, and was so upset I could not finish the show.  I pulled myself off the air at the end of the hour.  I had to finish the hour, because 20 minutes of dead air doesn’t work.  I am very sorry.  And it just won’t happen again.

I received some letters, and what touched me is that, even though many of you were upset, you still showed friendship for all the years we’ve been together on the air, and for that, trust me, I am very grateful.

At that point, Schlessinger read a few letters of support.

What think you, Blenders?
