The Oscar noms come early this year, and once again as many as 10 films may be up for best picture. But which ones? And how many?
Here I have a handicapping, in descending order, of the most likely nominees in all the categories. After the nominations come out Thursday morning, check to see how well we (and you) did. My picks are below.
In the last 24 hours, two major groups have announced their nominations for some of the film awards of the season — the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Add to that Film Independent Spirit Awards, and the landscape is shaping up.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association, of which I am a voting member, will announce our winners next Tuesday.

Yesterday nominations opened for the 2011 Bloggies and for the first time there is a Best Religion Blog category. I suggest the hilarious satire site, Christwire, whose writers even befuddled the New York Times this year. There’s also a first-time category for Best Parenting Blog. What would be a good gay parenting blog to nominate?
