SEE: Sharon Needles’ PETA PSA

Sharon Needles has found the perfect blend of her passions: Shock drag and animals.

Needles, who won the last season of RuPaul’s Drag Race with her Goth-glam look, is the latest celeb to do a PSA for PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Famous for their anti-fur ads, Needles’ promo shows her holding severed body parts.

Hey, it is Haloween season.

We love Sarah Silverman anyway, but she wins us over good with this foul-mouthed PSA for opposing efforts an voter disenfranchisement. Enjoy, but NSFW.

WATCH: Janet Dowell’s award-winning PSA

A few months ago, lesbian North Texas mom Janet Dowell made a PSA about bullying that ended up getting some recognition. Problem was, it wasn’t embeddable on our blog.

Well, that’s fixed. Now you can see the segment without searching the Internet. Here it is:

Christmas, hot guys and a safe sex message

It’s not often you can combine high-quality production values with a PSA about safe sex. Even rarer that the song that goes along with it has seasonal significance. Unheard of that the lyrics are laugh-out-loud hysterical. And a cherry-on-top delight that the boys are smokin’! Here, then, a Japanese video. Listen carefully. And enjoy over and over.

NoH8 takes on bullying, with the help of Cindy McCain

Way back in January, I posted this piece about Cindy McCain, wife of anti-gay Arizona senator and failed presidential candidate John McCain, participating in the NoH8 campaign in support of same-sex marriage. The McCains’ daughter Meghan also posed for a photo in the NoH8 campaign and has been outspoken in her support of same-sex marriage and LGBT rights in general.

Now comes this video about bullying from NoH8, and once again Cindy McCain is speaking out.

The video includes appearances by a long list of celebrities (including another of my favorite blondes, Bridget Marquadt of Girls Next Door fame) who are all talking about how serious bullying is and how everyone needs to step up and do their part to end the epidemic. I was especially impressed by what Cindy McCain said about how anti-gay laws — things like “don’t ask, don’t tell” and the Defense of Marriage Act — are also a form of bullying and must end, along with religious persecution of LGBT people.

Makes me wonder how tense the situation must be right now in the McCain household, since John McCain supports both DADT and DOMA.

Anyway, let’s hear a cheer, once again, for Cindy McCain and all the others who took the time to participate in this video and make a stand for our rights — and our lives. And check out this “It Gets Better” PSA No H8 did, that includes Meghan McCain, Tori Spelling, Pauly Perrett and many others.

WATCH: Fort Worth City Councilman Joel Burns makes another video, this time for GLSEN

Fort Worth City Councilman Joel Burns’ “It Gets Better” video has more than 2 million views, but it’s good to know that his advocacy for safe schools won’t end there. Burns has followed up by filming the above PSA for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s Safe Space Campaign, which aims to place a GLSEN Safe Space Kit in every middle and high school in the country. What’s next, a YouTube reality show?

Daniel Radcliffe speaks out on teen suicides in PSA for The Trevor Project

Lots of celebrities have been speaking out over the past week or so on the subject of the teens who have killed themselves after being bullied. Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film series, has added his voice to the discussion in the form of a public service announcement for The Trevor Project, a national 24-hour, toll free confidential suicide hotline for gay and questioning youth.

Because I am a Harry Potter fan, I am sharing Radcliffe’s video here:

The Bully Suicide Project debuts PSA

I mentioned last month that Campus Harmony and Youth First Texas started the Bully Suicide Project, an effort to reduce bullying in schools (and even beyond), with a powerful photo campaign. They add to that today with the launch of their video PSA now on YouTube. But you can catch it below.
